"Eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."
Main authorities over the mind of man - the enemies of freethinking:
- Statism - the belief that the State and its rulers have a right to command, and that citizens have an obligation to obey. More generally, the belief that the State is the solution to man's problems, and should wield more violence-power to assert its will.
- Theism - the belief that a god or gods have a right to command, and that humans have an obligation to obey. More generally, the belief that a god or church is the solution to man's problems, and should wield more violence-power to assert its will.
- Superstition and Bunk Science - non-empirically based beliefs about nature and reality. Often, this overlaps with one of the above. When people circle around a "sacred object," they tend to get stupid and ignore evidence.
- Biases, Fallacies, and Illusions can undermine critical thinking. Being aware of these traps is essential.
